A man who spent 16 hours on the Elizabeth Tower of the famous Big Ben in London, displaying a Palestinian flag, has been detained by police after descending. This was reported by Sky News.
Throughout Saturday, rescuers and negotiators using a lift truck attempted to persuade the man to come down voluntarily. He, in turn, stated that he would do so “on his own terms.”
During his 16 and a half hours on the tower, he posted several videos on Instagram. In one of them, he hinted that he initially planned to stay there for three and a half days.
Westminster police explained around 1 a.m. on Sunday that the prolonged incident was due to the man’s location and the need to ensure the safety of all involved.
