U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping may hold a meeting in China as early as April, according to diplomatic sources.
According to the Chinese newspaper SCMP, Trump plans to visit China soon, aiming to reach important agreements with Beijing. Since returning to the White House, he has been actively working on establishing new diplomatic and trade relations with China.
Both leaders are expected to present the visit as a significant diplomatic success, although discussions are still in the early stages.
A few days before Trump’s return to the White House, he and Xi Jinping discussed a number of issues over the phone. A week later, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with U.S. counterpart Marco Rubio, but their official meeting did not take place due to sanctions imposed on Rubio.
