Puma plans to cut 500 jobs as part of its cost optimization efforts

German sportswear manufacturer Puma intends to cut 500 jobs as part of an efficiency improvement program, Bild reports, citing a company representative.

According to the publication, 150 of the planned job cuts will take place in Germany. The company has allocated €75 million for the implementation of this program. However, layoffs are not expected.

We do not plan any redundancies due to operational needs. Instead, the company will refrain from filling certain vacant positions, take advantage of natural staff turnover, and offer a voluntary redundancy program in the coming weeks, Bild quotes a Puma representative as saying.

Puma SE is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of sports footwear, apparel, and accessories. The company employs around 22,000 people worldwide.
