German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized the need for a unified approach to military equipment procurement in Europe, stating that the continent cannot afford to waste time on unnecessary bureaucracy.
His comments followed a meeting of defense ministers from the UK, France, Italy, and Poland in Paris, where they discussed strengthening European defense and supporting Ukraine’s security.
Our goal is to purchase more, purchase consistently, and simultaneously. We want to eliminate bureaucratic barriers both at the European and national levels. Together, we can reduce defense costs, Pistorius noted.
He added that Europe cannot afford to let bureaucracy slow down the increase in defense spending. “We don’t have time for this, it’s too expensive,” the minister said.
It is worth noting that during the extraordinary EU summit on March 6, all EU leaders supported the “Rearm Europe” initiative.
