The French Minister of Defense has described the country’s military as “vulnerable,” with a specific focus on the space industry. French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu expressed concerns over the growing risks to military operations, labeling space as a “vulnerable area.”
Lecornu said, “we are a generation of people who will live through what could be a form of star wars.”
“These are issues on which, if we don’t wake up, we could lose,” Lecornu emphasized.
He further discussed the potential threats to satellites in space, highlighting the dangers of “the possibilities of destroying satellites in space, fortunately, sometimes blinding them,” as well as the risks posed by “using directed energy or laser weapons.”
Previously, Lecornu had also pointed out that “ammunition and electronic warfare” are “pressing issues” that France will face in the coming years.
