Indian Prime Minister Modi urges Zelensky to hold direct talks with Russia

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that Ukraine should engage in direct negotiations with Russia rather than limiting itself to consultations with its allies.

Ukraine can hold countless discussions with its allies, but this will yield no results. Instead, both sides must be involved in the discussions, Modi emphasized in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

Addressing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he noted that there is no military solution to the conflict:

No matter how many people in the world support you, there will never be a solution on the battlefield. A resolution will only come when both Ukraine and Russia sit at the negotiating table.

Modi also stressed that the current situation presents “an opportunity for meaningful and productive negotiations.”

Today, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha arrives in India for a three-day visit.
