Brussels conference pledges nearly €6 billion in aid for Syria

Participants of the ninth conference on Syria, held on March 17 in Brussels, pledged a total of €5.8 billion in support for the country.

This announcement was made by European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica.

According to Šuica, the conference reaffirmed its “unwavering support” for Syria.

“The total amount of pledged grants and loans for the Syrian people and the region has reached €5.8 billion, of which €2.5 billion are grant commitments,” she stated.

The Commissioner also noted that the European Union and its member states will provide 80% of all grants allocated to Syria.
