According to a Forsa poll, 54% of Germans believe that Ukraine should be prepared to cede occupied territories to achieve a peace agreement with Russia.
36% of respondents oppose this view, with the majority of them being supporters of the Green Party.
Party-based breakdown of opinions:
Among CDU/CSU supporters, 52% support concessions, while 43% are against.
Among SPD voters, 46% favor territorial compromises, while 40% oppose them.
Among supporters of the AfD (Alternative for Germany), 71% back concessions (16% oppose).
Among Left Party voters, 50% support concessions, while 40% are against.
Earlier, U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz stated that a future peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine may involve territorial losses for Ukraine in exchange for security guarantees. Additionally, on March 10, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested that Ukraine would likely have to concede territories occupied by Russia since 2014 as part of any peace negotiations.
