Three men in Britain found guilty of stealing a gold toilet bowl from Blenheim Palace

Three men in the UK have been found guilty of stealing a golden toilet worth £4.75 million (about $6.2 million) from Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill. This was announced by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in a statement on Tuesday.

The men were convicted for stealing and selling the 18-carat gold toilet, which had been displayed as part of an art installation at the palace. The theft occurred in September 2019, and the stolen item was connected to the sewage system, which led to flooding in the palace.

The jury found Michael Jones guilty of burglary, while Fred Dow was convicted of handling stolen goods. A third defendant confessed to the crime in court, and the fourth was acquitted.

Despite the police’s efforts, the stolen toilet could not be recovered, as the criminals had dismantled it or melted it down and sold it.
