Trump says Ukraine aid was not discussed in talk with Putin

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that during his phone conversation with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, they did not touch on the topic of aid to Ukraine.

He made this statement in an interview with Fox News.

His comment came after the Kremlin claimed that Putin demanded an end to military aid and intelligence support for Ukraine as part of an agreement on a “ceasefire.” When asked whether Putin had requested a halt to military aid for Ukraine, Trump responded: “He did not.”

“We didn’t talk about that at all. We discussed many things, but aid was not mentioned at all,” he emphasized.

Trump described the conversation with Putin as “great” and added that they discussed bilateral relations and expanding trade.

As is known, during the call, Vladimir Putin once again rejected a U.S. proposal for a 30-day full ceasefire, which Ukraine had previously agreed to. Instead, he supported a 30-day commitment from both sides to “refrain” from attacking energy facilities.

The two sides also agreed to discuss “shipping security in the Black Sea” and to establish Russian and American expert groups to address the “Ukrainian settlement.”
