Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed support for the U.S. initiative to halt attacks on Russian energy facilities during a phone conversation with former U.S. President Donald Trump.
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing an informed source familiar with the details of the conversation. According to the source, Zelensky agreed to the U.S. proposal to cease strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.
The agency also noted that Washington and Kyiv agreed to work on expanding the ceasefire regime. Trump described his conversation with Zelensky as “very good” and emphasized that a significant part of it focused on his discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin the previous day. According to Trump, the conversation aimed at coordinating the requests and needs of both sides.
On March 18, following talks between Putin and Trump, it became known that the Russian leader supported an agreement for both sides to refrain from attacks on energy infrastructure for a month. Meanwhile, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff expressed confidence in the Kremlin’s intentions to “act in good faith” regarding efforts to end the war.
