As a result of the boat disaster, one person has died. A Greek Coast Guard patrol vessel continues its search for survivors.
According to Ekathimerini, 18 people were rescued on Saturday evening, found on the island of Farmakonisi, located near the Turkish coast in the southeastern part of the Aegean Sea. Another person was found unconscious but later died, according to a Coast Guard spokesperson.
Three minors were taken to a children’s hospital in Athens, two of whom are in critical condition. The spokesperson added that there is currently no confirmed information about other missing persons, and authorities have not yet interrogated the survivors on Farmakonisi.
Meanwhile, an incident involving a boat carrying migrants occurred in the English Channel on the night of March 20, resulting in one death.
