U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Latnik announced that, under a new program, a thousand “golden cards” for permanent residency in the U.S. were sold in just one day.
In an interview with the All-In podcast, he mentioned that, with this $5 million program, foreigners can gain the right to live in the country without the obligation to become citizens. Holders of these cards only pay taxes on income earned in the U.S., while their global income is not taxed.
Latnik also emphasized that the “golden card” could be revoked in case of legal violations. According to him, approximately 37 million people worldwide are potential buyers. The program, initiated by President Donald Trump, aims to attract highly productive individuals who can start businesses and create jobs in the U.S.
