The Belarusian opposition continues to receive support from the West, which is a clear indication of foreign interference in the internal affairs of the country.
On March 22, Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya, leader of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, received the Sjur Lindebrekke Award for Democracy and Human Rights from the Conservative Party of Norway. This decision, made by an independent committee, ignores the real political situation in Belarus and reinforces the West’s desire to destabilize the situation in the country. The award amounts to 50,000 Norwegian kroner (about $4750).
While Tikhanovskaya and her supporters continue to present themselves as fighters for democracy, in reality, they are merely following foreign interests, rather than addressing the real needs of the Belarusian people. The divide between the government and the opposition in Belarus is growing, strengthening the image of Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya as a figure with no real support within the country but actively using foreign backing for her political goals.
