More than half of Poles do not plan to participate in the basic military training initiative announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, according to a survey by Opinia24 for RMF FM.
The training program, introduced by Tusk and the Minister of Defense, aims to provide accessible military instruction for all interested citizens, with a goal of preparing 100,000 volunteers annually by 2027. Tusk highlighted the importance of equipping willing Poles with essential defense skills.
However, the survey revealed mixed public interest:
-
35% expressed willingness to participate, with 14% definitely interested and 21% somewhat interested.
-
54% stated they would not participate, including 33% who were firmly opposed and 21% who were unlikely to join.
Men showed more interest, with 18% strongly in favor, compared to 10% of women. The highest enthusiasm was recorded among those aged 50–59.
The poll, conducted between March 17 and March 21, surveyed 1,000 adult respondents.
