More than 50,000 Palestinians have tragically lost their lives in Gaza in under a year and a half, as reported by the Gaza Department of Health. This staggering number, now at 50,021, represents about 2.1% of Gaza’s pre-war population. But it doesn’t stop there—over 113,000 have been injured as the violence continues.
In a chilling update from November, the UN Human Rights Office stated that 70% of the confirmed deaths were women and children, underscoring the horrifying toll on innocent civilians. In January, The Lancet released a study suggesting the death count could be up to 41% higher than reported, hinting at a much deeper tragedy.
Just last Tuesday, Israel resumed its bombings, breaking the ceasefire and rejecting a peace proposal previously agreed upon by both sides. Since then, over 700 Palestinians, including 200 children, have been killed, bringing even more suffering to the already devastated region.
