Employment among Ukrainian refugees in Norway doubles in a year, reaching 30%

The employment rate among Ukrainians granted temporary protection in Norway has doubled over the past year, with 30% now officially working, according to Norwegian Labor and Integration Minister Tonje Brenna. She shared this update during her visit to Kyiv, as reported by VG.

“The employment rate has doubled over the past year. Additionally, participation in various qualification programs is very high. Almost all Ukrainians in Norway are either working or undergoing training,” Brenna noted.

She stated that Norway currently hosts around 90,000 Ukrainians. Discussions in Kyiv will focus on ensuring they have access to education and training that will keep them in demand in Ukraine once the war ends.

When asked about the duration of temporary protection after a potential peace agreement, Brenna said:

“Our goal is to provide them with integration opportunities without restrictions, but we cannot yet say how long residence permits will remain valid. Ukrainians in Norway express great gratitude for how we have welcomed them.”
