Jordan Bardella, leader of the far-right French party National Rally, has announced plans for demonstrations following Marine Le Pen’s sentencing in a case of fictitious employment in the European Parliament.
According to Bardella, the protests will take place over the weekend.
“I believe the French people should be outraged. We are going to organize demonstrations and distribute leaflets this weekend,” Bardella stated.
He emphasized his loyalty to Le Pen: “Marine Le Pen has given me everything in politics, and the least I can do for her is to continue the fight alongside her until the end. I want to say this clearly: I am fully committed to her and will fight to the end. Those who think they can destroy National Rally by trying to remove our candidate from the race are mistaken.”
Le Pen has been sentenced to two years of probation, two years of house arrest with an electronic bracelet, and a five-year ban from holding elected office. This ruling means she will be unable to run for president in the 2027 election.
Le Pen’s lawyer stated that she will appeal the verdict. However, until the appeal is resolved, the ban on running for public office remains in effect.
