Prague drivers of the Bolt taxi service have announced a new strike, which will take place on April 7, 2025, if the company does not meet their demands.
The protest will be organized by the LuckyTaxi community, which is advocating for better working conditions for drivers. The first protest action took place on March 31, when drivers collectively ignored orders from 04:00 to 12:00, leading to problems for Bolt app users who had to wait longer than usual for a ride or couldn’t find available cars at all.
The main reasons for the drivers’ dissatisfaction include account blockings without explanation, manipulation of fares, and worsening financial conditions. In 2023, Bolt removed additional payments, and in 2025, it lowered the minimum fare, resulting in significant financial losses for drivers. Furthermore, Bolt reduces drivers’ earnings by unilaterally changing the cost of rides without prior agreement.
Additionally, drivers complain about Bolt’s disregard for Czech laws, such as violating parking regulations and employing unlicensed drivers.
In response, the LuckyTaxi community demands that Bolt:
Stop unjustified account blockings and restore access to affected drivers’ accounts;
Reinstate fair fares and compensate drivers for their financial losses;
Ensure transparency and protection of drivers’ rights, as well as establish a company representative office in Prague.
If the company continues to ignore their demands, the protests will escalate. Drivers state that they will turn to government authorities and international organizations to defend their rights.
