France has stated that Europe will respond proportionally to the tariffs that U.S. President Donald Trump has promised to announce on Wednesday, April 2.
French Minister of Industry Marc Ferracci made this statement, emphasizing that under no circumstances will Europe escalate trade tensions.
“Europe has always been on the side of negotiations and de-escalation because, as you know, trade wars only lead to losses,” he said.
As is known, Trump is set to announce new large-scale reciprocal tariffs on goods from global trading partners on Wednesday.
The U.S. president has called his tariff plan “Liberation Day,” highlighting that the tariffs will bring jobs back to the U.S. and fill the federal budget with trillions of dollars in new revenue.
Trump has also stated that these tariffs will apply to all countries.
