BMW to switch to Chinese artificial intelligence in cars

Starting in 2026, all next-generation BMW cars sold in China will be equipped with artificial intelligence from the Chinese internet giant Alibaba.

This decision aims to reduce the gap with local car manufacturers and usher in a new era of mobility, according to Bild. Sean Green, president of BMW in China, noted that the partnership with Alibaba is an example of mutual growth.

The new BMW cars will feature two digital assistants: Car Genius, which analyzes the vehicle’s technical condition, and Travel Companion, responsible for navigation and entertainment. At the core of this innovative experience will be the Qwen language model developed by Alibaba.

BMW’s collaboration with Alibaba began in 2015, and now it is reaching a new level, promising to radically transform the driving experience in China.
