Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in Hungary for an official visit, despite an arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The news was announced by Hungarian Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky on social media platform X. This marks Netanyahu’s first trip to Europe since the ICC issued an arrest warrant for him in November 2024.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump accused the ICC of acting illegally against the United States and Israel. In response, Washington imposed sanctions against ICC officials. These measures include freezing assets, blocking property, and banning ICC members and their families from entering the U.S.
The decision was made after the ICC’s prosecution of Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who are suspected of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
