German automaker Volkswagen has temporarily halted shipments of its vehicles to the U.S. due to import tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, the company has already informed dealers about the suspension of car transport from Mexico by rail, while vehicles arriving by sea from Europe are being delayed at ports.
Volkswagen described this as a “temporary adjustment” and stated that it is working with logistics companies to resume shipments once the tariff situation becomes clearer.
Additionally, the company plans to introduce a special import fee on cars subject to the new U.S. tariffs. Details of the updated pricing strategy are expected to be announced by mid-April.
