U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to cut government spending, which could amount to $1 trillion.
He made this announcement on his TruthSocial page.
Trump stated that he had met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives and some of the “more conservative members” of the House and made it clear that he supports “major spending cuts.”
“We are going to do reductions, hopefully in excess of $1 trillion dollars, all of which will go into the one, big, beautiful bill,” the American president said.
Trump emphasized that, together with members of the House of Representatives and senators, he will vigorously push for these large-scale spending cuts.
It’s worth noting that just the day before, Trump had promised that the country’s defense budget would, for the first time in history, reach $1 trillion — a record-breaking amount.
