In Oslo, Norway, a memorial paving stone dedicated to Holocaust victims was damaged by unknown individuals using black paint.
These “stumbling stones,” installed throughout the city, serve as tributes to Norwegian Jews who were killed during the Holocaust.
The incident occurred on Grünerløkka Street, where passersby alerted the museum responsible for the memorial stones after discovering black paint had been poured over several of them. “We very rarely encounter anything like this,” said Mats Tangestuen, a representative of the Jewish Museum.
Museum staff are currently assessing how many other stones have been affected by the vandalism, beyond those reported by witnesses. An investigation into the incident will be conducted.
