UK Greenpeace activists arrested in protest near US embassy over arms sales to Israel

In London, at least five Greenpeace activists were arrested on Thursday after they staged a protest by pouring red paint into a pond near the US Embassy. The protest was organized to oppose the sale of arms to Israel.

According to the group, a dozen activists emptied 300 liters of biodegradable dye into the pond, using containers labeled with the message “Stop Arming Israel.” The police detained the activists on suspicion of criminal vandalism and conspiracy to cause criminal damage.

The UK branch of Greenpeace confirmed that six individuals were arrested, including one of the organization’s leaders.

Greenpeace is urging both the UK and US governments to implement an arms embargo on Israel, which resumed its military actions in Gaza last month. The arrests have sparked criticism from activists, particularly from those supporting climate and pro-Palestinian causes.
