A deportation facility is being built in Volkstedt (Saxony-Anhalt), where up to 30 asylum seekers will be housed until their expulsion. The facility will be guarded by ten trainees.
The “deportation trainees” are offered a salary of €1,458.94 per month — in other fields of vocational training (Ausbildung) in Germany, the pay typically ranges from €700 to €1,000 gross. The requirements for candidates are not too high: at least a secondary school diploma (Realschule or Hauptschule) with completed vocational training (Berufsausbildung).
“In recent years, the number of foreigners required to leave the country has increased,” explains a representative of the state administration in response to a question about why Saxony-Anhalt plans to establish a deportation prison.
In addition to general education and literacy, candidates are tested on memory, logical thinking, and language comprehension. Furthermore, the “deportation trainees” must be able to do push-ups and endure an obstacle course to test their stamina.
