Authorities in Myanmar have reported that the death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck on March 28 has reached 3,689.
More than 5,000 people have been injured, and 139 are still reported missing. This was reported on Friday by China Central Television (CCTV), citing Myanmar’s State Administration Council.
The 7.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in Myanmar and was felt in five neighboring countries. Earlier reports indicated 3,600 fatalities, but the numbers are being updated as rescue operations continue.
The natural disaster caused significant damage to settlements and infrastructure. Authorities are continuing efforts to mitigate the aftermath of the earthquake and provide assistance to those affected.
