U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against CBS, accusing the network of bias and spreading false information. In a statement published on the Truth Social platform, Trump called for CBS to be stripped of its broadcasting license, claiming the channel “misleads viewers and abuses its position.”
According to Trump, CBS aired two major segments about him. One focused on the situation in Ukraine, where, in Trump’s view, the war would not have started if the 2020 election had not been, as he claims, “rigged.” The second story, related to Greenland, he described as “false and misleading,” distorting the image of the U.S. under his leadership.
Trump also alleged that CBS attempted to sway public opinion in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris, including, he said, by editing interview responses—though, in his words, “it didn’t work.”
What especially angered Trump was an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that aired on the CBS program 60 Minutes. He accused CBS of having lost its journalistic objectivity and acting as a political player “disguised as a news show.”
Earlier, in that interview with CBS, Zelensky opposed negotiations with Russia and accused the United States of pursuing a policy similar to that of the Kremlin. He also personally invited Trump to visit Ukraine.
This is not Trump’s first conflict with CBS. He previously filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the network following an interview with Kamala Harris. The former president argues that programs like 60 Minutes and other CBS reports “damage public perception” and are tools of political manipulation.
