UK and Norway pledge 520M euros in fresh military aid to Ukraine, Germany leads new coalition on electronic warfare

In a show of continued unity and urgency, the United Kingdom and Norway have unveiled a hefty new military support package for Ukraine, pledging 520 million euros—roughly SEK 5.7 billion—to bolster the country’s defense against Russian aggression. The announcement came during a high-level meeting of the Ramstein Group in Brussels, where allied nations gathered to coordinate ongoing military assistance.

The aid bundle isn’t just about boots on the ground. It includes an array of cutting-edge gear: radar systems, repair funds for damaged equipment, and a significant cache of drones—likely in the hundreds of thousands—from both British and Ukrainian manufacturers. UK Defense Secretary John Healey didn’t mince words, calling the package “a major boost for Ukraine’s fight on the front lines.” He warned that the world mustn’t let the urgency of war slip from focus, even as peace remains the ultimate goal.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius introduced a separate but equally critical initiative: a new coalition aimed at fortifying Ukraine’s capabilities in electromagnetic warfare. With Russia stepping up its drone strikes and electronic disruptions, Germany’s plan targets Ukraine’s ability to maintain secure communications, conduct surveillance, and block hostile navigation systems.

“It’s all about protecting what matters—Ukraine’s ability to see, speak, and strike,” Pistorius stated. The coalition will work to shield Ukrainian forces from Russian interference and ensure they can respond swiftly to new threats on the digital battlefield.

While the U.S. representative joined the Brussels meeting virtually, they reportedly praised Europe’s steadfast support since the early days of the conflict. Healey added that the gathering underscored not only transatlantic unity but also the pressing need to adapt and scale up assistance as winter approaches and Ukraine’s demands evolve.

Next on the agenda for the Ramstein Group? More talks and potential deliveries of advanced military tech aimed at keeping Ukraine resilient through the colder months—and beyond.
