Italian President Sergio Mattarella is recovering after undergoing a scheduled pacemaker implantation on Tuesday, according to news agency ANSA.
The 83-year-old head of state was admitted to the hospital on April 15 after completing his official duties for the day. The procedure was performed in the evening, and Mattarella remained at the clinic overnight under medical supervision.
Reports indicate that the operation was successful, with no complications, and the president’s condition is stable.
Back in January, a pacemaker was also implanted in Norway’s 87-year-old Queen.
