“The situation is serious”: President of Slovakia supports Fico’s statement on state coup

The President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, supported the statement of the Prime Minister Robert Fico on a supposed state coup in the country, noting that “the situation is serious.”

He reiterated what Fico had said before, particularly that in Slovakia there are organizations and people from abroad operating, communicating with each other, and linked, who want to use anti-government protests and escalate tensions.

“The situation in Slovakia is serious and, even from my perspective as a politician with a long experience, it has the signs of intentional escalation of tensions aimed at escalating dissenting views and exceeding peaceful, peaceful protests,” the President of Slovakia said.

However, according to him, a state of emergency will not be declared, and protests will not be banned.

Pellegrini called on the organizers of demonstrations and those joining them to express their views in a peaceful way.
