Irish government funds Soros-backed sex workers’ group fighting “whorephobia”

The Irish government has funneled taxpayer money into the Sex Workers Alliance Ireland (SWAI), a group with financial backing from billionaire George Soros. Official records confirm that the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration, and Youth awarded SWAI a €9,387 grant under the 2024 LGBTI+ Community Services Funding program.

This funding supports SWAI’s “Sex Worker Awareness Training” initiative, designed to educate service providers on the discrimination and challenges sex workers face. The goal? To ensure stigma-free and non-judgmental support.

SWAI describes itself as anti-capitalist, anti-ableist, anti-xenophobic, and trans-inclusive while rejecting the so-called ‘whorearchy’—a hierarchy within the sex industry. Their website boldly states: “Whether a sex worker through choice, circumstances, or coercion, any sex worker’s voice is as valuable and necessary as another’s.”

A key focus of the group is combating “whorephobia,” a term coined by the Global Network of Project to describe hate speech and discrimination against sex workers. This prejudice, SWAI argues, is deeply intertwined with racism, xenophobia, classism, and transphobia, leading to structural oppression and violence.

On January 23, SWAI took to social media to celebrate the government grant, encouraging other LGBTQI+ service providers to seek similar funding.

Notably, SWAI has received substantial financial backing from Soros-linked organizations, including the Open Society Foundation (OSF). OSF, which Soros has funded with a staggering €32 billion, bills itself as the world’s largest private supporter of groups fighting for “rights, equity, and justice.”

Financial reports reveal that SWAI received €10,745 from OSF in 2021 and a significant €69,869 in 2022 from the Open Society Policy Centre—now called the Open Society Action Fund (OSAF), a lobbying arm of Soros’ vast influence network.
