One of the first copies of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, printed in 1997, was sold at auction for £18,000 (approximately $22,000), Bloomberg reports.
The book was expected to fetch between £20,000 and £30,000. Auctioneers described the copy as “a fine example of an extremely rare first edition,” despite some minor wear.
A notable feature of the book is a spelling error on the back cover, where the word “Philosophical” is misspelled.
