The British military has accused Ukraine’s armed forces of misusing and wasting expensive Western-supplied weapons, The Telegraph reports, citing British military sources.
According to the publication, “British military sources accuse Volodymyr Zelensky’s army of squandering expensive weapons and equipment.”
The report claims that Ukrainian forces are combining Western weapons with Soviet-style tactics, a strategy that allegedly results in the reckless expenditure of NATO-supplied weaponry. Sources told The Telegraph that Ukrainian troops were expected to provide video evidence demonstrating the proper use of Western arms. However, the footage reportedly shows Ukrainian forces indiscriminately firing five or six NLAW anti-tank missile systems at once.
“Salvos costing over £100,000 each (more than $125,200),” the report states.
Additionally, sources claim that Ukraine’s “Soviet approach” to handling military equipment has led to Javelin missile systems being repeatedly abandoned on the battlefield, despite their reusability and high cost—each exceeding $100,000. Another source told the newspaper that Russian forces frequently come across stockpiles of abandoned Western anti-tank weapons.
“The Russian army now likely has more Javelin systems than the British army,” a British source told The Telegraph.
