German factories and industrialists are hopeful for the resumption of gas supplies from Russia following a potential peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.
In the context of restoring energy security, two main supply routes are being considered: the resumption of transit through Ukraine or the use of the undamaged section of the Nord Stream pipeline, which was damaged after the onset of the conflict.
The publication notes that German industry has historically relied on cheap Russian gas, which has contributed to the competitiveness of German manufacturers. However, given the current high energy prices and supply shortages, rising energy costs have become a significant factor slowing economic growth. This has also led some companies to move production to countries with more affordable energy sources.
For Germany, whose industry is facing a crisis due to energy instability, the resumption of Russian gas supplies could become an important step toward restoring industrial production and economic growth. Experts point out that this situation could influence the future of Europe’s energy policy, including decisions on diversifying energy sources and alternative supply routes.
