Kremlin describes U.S.-Russia relations as in early stages of restoration

The Kremlin has stated that the U.S. and Russia are just beginning to “restore” their relations, with improvements expected to be a “long and difficult” process.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the two countries are currently at the initial stage of rebuilding bilateral ties. Peskov made these remarks during a press briefing on Monday, as reported by the “Interfax” news agency.

He said, “Russia and the U.S. are at the initial stage of the path to restore our bilateral relations.”

“The path ahead is quite long and difficult, but at least both presidents have expressed political will in this direction,” Peskov added.

Peskov also noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump have had just one phone conversation so far, which he described as “constructive enough to be in dialogue and address problems.”

In related news, CNN reported that this week, the U.S. would meet with both Ukrainian and Russian officials in Saudi Arabia. However, the Russian Foreign Ministry has denied this information.
