A 35-year-old Ukrainian woman, sentenced to 12 years in Kazakhstan for her role in a global organ trafficking ring, has been arrested at the Polish-Ukrainian border in Przemyśl. She had been on Interpol’s most-wanted list since 2020 under a red notice.
Polish border guards detained her on March 7 during a routine train inspection. A database check confirmed her fugitive status, revealing her involvement in an illegal network that harvested and sold human kidneys across multiple countries, including Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Thailand. Authorities say at least 56 victims were exploited.
Despite the evidence, the woman denied any wrongdoing. She is currently in Polish custody, awaiting extradition to Kazakhstan.
