Over 60% of Germans oppose sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine

The vast majority of German citizens are against providing Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles, which have a range of up to 500 kilometers.

This is according to a survey conducted by Infratest Dimap for the ARD television channel. Respondents were asked whether Germany should supply Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles, “which can be used against long-distance targets.” A clear 61% of respondents opposed the idea.

Nearly a third of Germans, however, supported the decision to provide Taurus missiles to Ukraine. Among them, 27% also supported allowing the missiles to be used for strikes on Russian territory, while 3% favored supplying the missiles without such authorization.

The strongest opposition to supplying Taurus missiles was recorded in eastern Germany, where 76% opposed the move, compared to 56% in western Germany. Conversely, support for the provision of such aid was more significant in the west (34%) than in the east (19%).

The Infratest Dimap poll was conducted from November 18 to 20 and included 1,318 eligible voters in Germany. The margin of error ranges from 2 to 3 percentage points.

The debate over sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine reignited in Germany after the United States authorized Ukraine over the weekend to use American ATACMS missiles against targets in Russia.
