The right-wing AfD party has caught up with the CDU/CSU in the polls

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is showing a surge in popularity: according to the latest opinion polls, it has reached the same level of voter support as the CDU/CSU bloc — both political forces are polling at 24%.

The party leadership believes that voters are increasingly rejecting the current political coalition, in which the CDU/CSU, in their view, is making too many concessions to the SPD and the Greens. AfD is confident that it can no longer be ignored on the political stage.

The party leadership sees the poll results as the beginning of a major shift and believes that AfD’s popularity will continue to grow, while the CDU’s position will weaken. According to AfD representatives, many citizens are disillusioned with traditional parties and are looking for an alternative that can deliver real change.

Criticism of CDU leader Friedrich Merz is also growing within AfD. They argue that his policies, particularly on national debt and migration, have alienated voters. They also accuse him of being unwilling to implement reforms and being solely focused on power.

According to AfD members, the ongoing developments may soon lead to AfD overtaking the CDU/CSU in the near future.
