Ankara to host Black Sea peace talks with Ukraine and Russia

Turkish media have reported that a high-level security meeting focused on the Black Sea is scheduled to take place next week in Ankara, with participation from both Ukrainian and Russian representatives.

According to CNN Türk and TGRT, the Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed that the talks will be held on April 15–16 at the Naval Forces Command headquarters in Ankara.

Sources within the Turkish Ministry of National Defense indicated that discussions will center on strategies to uphold stability in the Black Sea in the event of a potential ceasefire. Military officials from other foreign nations are also expected to attend, though specific countries have not been named.

The agenda reportedly includes evaluating military strategies aimed at preserving peace in the region.

This initiative follows trilateral negotiations in Saudi Arabia from March 23–25, during which the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine agreed to address Black Sea maritime security. In the aftermath, Russia issued a list of demands that included loosening sanctions on its agricultural sector. The U.S. responded by saying it would review the requests, while European nations rejected any relaxation of sanctions.
