During the night of April 21-22, another series of attacks occurred in France targeting prison workers, resulting in cars being set on fire. According to BFMTV, the most serious incidents took place in several cities across the country.
In the city of Caen, located in the northwest of France, around 3 a.m., a prison service employee’s car was set on fire in a parking lot, causing the flames to spread to four other cars. In the area of Beauvais, north of Paris, a prison worker’s vehicle had a “warning” sticker with the acronym DDPF, referring to the organization that has claimed responsibility for a series of vandalism acts.
Drones were also spotted at three locations near penitentiary facilities, although it remains unclear whether these sightings are linked to the recent incidents.
France’s Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, reported that a group of individuals carrying gasoline cans was stopped in the Isère department, likely preventing a car arson attempt. He expressed gratitude to prison staff and law enforcement for their vigilance and for foiling numerous attacks.
It is worth noting that such incidents began to occur in mid-April, with reports of attacks on prisons and the destruction of prison workers’ vehicles in various cities across the country. France’s Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, suggested that drug traffickers might be behind the wave of attacks, while Gérald Darmanin believes these actions are part of a destabilization and intimidation campaign.
