A disturbing knife attack unfolded in Berlin-Charlottenburg, with two victims injured, one of whom has since been discharged from the hospital. The alleged assailant, identified as a Syrian man residing in Sweden, was arrested following the violent incident.
Around noon, the attack began in a supermarket on Sömmeringstrasse, where the perpetrator allegedly stole from the store before using a knife to assault a man. Afterward, he struck again, this time attacking another individual outside a nearby hotel.
The police, who quickly responded, launched a homicide investigation. It appears the attacker may have been suffering from mental health issues, based on initial reports. As the investigation unfolded, the man became more agitated and engaged in another wild stabbing attempt at a Rewe market on Quedlinburger Strasse, where a group of courageous bystanders managed to restrain him until police arrived.
The area surrounding the crime scene saw heavy police activity, including traffic disruptions as officials secured evidence and interviewed witnesses.
