The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, ahead of his inauguration, had a productive phone call with the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.
The conversation, which covered a wide range of topics, included discussions on Ukraine, as well as trade issues, drug control, the fate of the TikTok social media platform, and other important matters.
Trump shared on his social media that the conversation was very beneficial for both countries and expressed confidence that the U.S. and China could resolve many issues starting immediately. He emphasized that both the Chinese leader and he personally would make every effort to create a safer and more peaceful world.
Additionally, Chinese Central Television’s statement mentioned that the discussion also touched on Middle Eastern issues and the need to establish a strategic communication channel for regular contact on key international matters.
Xi Jinping expressed hope that the U.S. would exercise caution on the Taiwan issue and highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries. He added that both nations should take more practical steps for the benefit of peace and stability, thus moving toward a path of sustainable development.
